Screen shot 2012-01-28 at 9.36.35 AMMost recently, 24Notion was challenged on revamping the whole new experience in digital marketing and user experience for Columbia Green Technologies that would create a multiple tier of functionality, user based centric, user experience and multiple platform of coordinated front and back end technologies. Columbia Green is an Eco-Technology Company. Columbia Green’s core technologies are focused on vegetative roofs and are based on sustainable functions that help manage the quality/quantity of stormwater, energy use, and air/water pollution.  Cities across the world are using vegetative roofs to manage these environmental issues.  Columbia Green is a USA manufacturer-delivering product through domestic and international channels to meet those needs. Columbia green partners are firestone, malarkey and more

24Notion not only revamped the entire digital experience but also refreshed the entire branding and communications plan for Columbia green technologies.

Additionally, we created a customized brand and content management system platform. Plus, back end technologies that would be easy to navigate and scalable for content development.

Screen shot 2012-01-28 at 9.49.17 AM“The new branding, overall design and digital experiences reflect the overall company’s objective as a whole. A clear, accessible, easy to navigate digital experience is revamped from a ground up with customer taste in mind” said Ivo Lukas, CEO/CCO of 24Notion. The content and visuals are merged into a collaborated effort to showcase the eco roof technologies IP products.  Phase I is completed and with the goal to move on to the second phase with more robust content and social experience as a whole.

Series I part I(Featured on an article post by @AnnTran_ 10 #Bloggers Share Their #2012 #Blogging Formula http://bit.ly/wLaIZK #tips #digital @24Notion @MsSonicFlare)

Screen shot 2012-01-20 at 11.38.46 AMMost recently, one of my dearest client just asked if we could help them on getting strategy and implementation in place for blogging for their corporate communications department. He asked if there is any magic formula to any successful blogs out there. Although, there isn’t any magic formula in developing a successful blog per say. There are best practices that you might want to implement. First and foremost, you need to know your overall strategy. Then, try to keep it up by creating an editorial calendar that essentially will build up your content throughout the duration of your blog strategy. Get a system going and do blog at least once or twice per week. Did you know that as of August 2011, there are estimated over 164 million blogs out there?

Here are more facts and data:

  • 27% of bloggers are full time bloggers
  • The U.S. has about 49% of the blogging population worldwide
  • 5% of the blogs are business-focused and 14% are focused on technology or Internet marketing
  • Traffic sources: 41% Search Engines, 28% Social Media, 20% Referring Sites
  • Two-thirds are male
  • 60% are 18-44
  • 75% have college degrees
  • 40% have graduate degrees

Here are my top 5 tips to keep in mind on blogging:

  • Be authentic
  • Write from the heart
  • Passionate about your topic
  • Don’t try to ramble too much, just get to the point.
  • Edit, edit, edit
  • Have fun

Interesting fact! By looking at the statistics, we need more women bloggers out there. Come on ladies, let’s help on balancing that number out. Together, we could be on a forefront in engaging our audience together.

Last week wrapped up the http://gracehopper.org/2011/ in Portland Oregon. 3000 attendees (over 140 companies, 235 academics representations and I would say 90% all women) from all over the world flocked to attend this 4 days conference. What if, is the topic of the conference – It is about creating the next generation to be the leader in STEM/Tech (science, technology engineering and mathematics). Telle Whitney opened the conference by introducing a new initiative by Anita Borg/Grace Hooper “TechWomen” change agent scholars: 6 women mentees (Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Egypt) selected as up-and-coming leaders who will advance in women’s participation in technology and help support more women in their hometown and expand STEM education. TechWomen pairs technical women in the greater San Francisco Bay Area with their counterparts in the Middle East and North Africa for a professional mentorship and exchange program at leading technology companies.

Keynote speaker, Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook gave a career advice for any young woman who wants to move up the ladder in the career of technology:

  1. Believe in yourself
  2. Dream big
  3. Make your partner a real partner
  4. Don’t’ leave just yet
  5. Start talking about this

The conference sessions range from career, academic, technical, theme and industry track. With Saturday dedicated for an open source day: Codeathon for humanity.

Grace Hopper Aspirations computing awards by NCWIT took place on Thursday night. More than 1200 applicants applied for and top 30 young women were chosen to attend this conference. The Aspirations award is the catalyst that propels young women into studying computer science in college and ultimately pursuing a career in computing and information technology. Event sponsored by Microsoft, Intel, viawest, Lewis and Clark, puppetlabs and 24Notion (shout out to Ruthe F who did an amazing job on the award celeb; did you know that they’ve granted over 800 girls up to date on the scholarship?)

Career fair and exhibitors from Google, yahoo, Microsoft, NSA, Deutsch bank, Lockheed martin, Amex, Intel, Pixar, Facebook, Twitter and hundred others flocked to recruit the brightest STEM young individual to lead their company. (Did you know that STEM jobs paid 20% more than regular career?).

Leaving the conference energized and excited that at Girls in Tech Mentorship Program, we are here to support and developed the next generation to raise them up the top.  so, what are you waiting for? Get into it!
